Some information about the upcoming December Update

We want to thank everyone who tested Re/Phase in its current form, and hopefully we will see you try it again when we release our December update.

We’ve been working for quite some time on the framework of the game, and while the first test iteration we did with your participation focused on testing basic movement and combat, we are now entering the phase where we will develop Re/Phase into the game we envisioned. We still, of course, have a long way to go to get it there, but the December update will be a huge step. Here is some of the stuff we are including:

Removing the Sandbox

As of now, playing Re/Phase tosses you straight into the action with everything that can be unlocked already unlocked from the start. The update will remove that layer, and you will have to battle your way from your first scrambled ship to the perfect build.

Data Banks

To support the sandbox removal, we’re adding a new Data Banks menu where you spend the data you’ve collected from defeated enemies to unlock ship parts and weapon components.

Abilities

Most parts will have specific abilities only available for that part, giving you the option to take that into consideration, as well as stats, when deciding how to build your ship. The abilities will need to be unlocked in the Data Banks menu.

Extermination Mission

We will still mainly have the extermination mission currently in the game. While more missions is an early goal, we decided to leave quantity out of this update and instead fine-tune the mission we currently have. We’ve taken steps to make it more interesting and aligned with our end goal. The enemies will spawn in a smaller area, move in groups, and be fewer in number for each mission. You also don’t have all the time in the world anymore, because Alien Reinforcements will completely overwhelm you if you take too long. You can try to fight them, but you really shouldn’t.

Sector Final Mission

At the end of each sector, you will find and fight the boss in an attempt to harvest the energy needed to complete the game.

Full Gamepad Support

As a twin-stick game, we are embarrassed by the fact that we didn’t fully support gamepad control, mostly due to missing menu and UI navigation. This will be fixed.
